University of Canterbury New Zealand
The university's modern and well-equipped facilities are spread across a spacious campus, with easy access to central city. Known as the Garden City, Christchurch has excellent beaches, parks, reserves and golf courses, and is close to scenic and recreational resources - there are ski-fields within an hour and a half's drive.
The University of Canterbury is also part of the Canterbury Tertiary Alliance, comprising Lincoln University, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology and the Christchurch College of Education. The CTA goal is the coordinated development and provision of tertiary education in Canterbury.
Canterbury Study
The University of Canterbury offers a wide variety of subjects in flexible degree structures. We offer first and postgraduate degrees in Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Forestry, Law, Music and Science.
At Canterbury, research and teaching are closely related, and are encouraged at the postgraduate level. Our assessment is also distinctive. We have a system of internal appraisals, which supplement the end-of-year examinations, and provide essential feedback.
Canterbury People
The University of Canterbury and the UCSA (Students Association) both recognise the importance of a rich campus culture and leading a balanced life while studying at Canterbury. We enjoy and foster alumni contacts and also have extensive international links. There are many services on campus available to international students.
The English Language Centre
The English Language Centre provides ideal preparation for study at Foundation, Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree level. All of our courses are designed to provide students with the specific language and study skills needed to succeed in academic study. Although most students are planning to continue on with their academic career at the University of Canterbury, it is also possible to come to the Language Centre for English study alone and then move on to another institution later.
What are the advantages of choosing to come to our English Language Centre?

Mandy Wuendsch from GermanyStudying General English and a Master of Law degree Mandy chose to travel across the world to pursue a Masters in Law. "Canterbury University was very attentive to my requests, gave me lots of information and was quick to reply. I rate the law school as a world-leading course teaching an international degree because it enables me to choose a range of papers that are applicable internationally.
For example, I know that what I am learning in Media Law will also apply when I return to Germany."
