Engineering at Manukau Institute of Technology
New Zealand
Engineering graduates from Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), in Auckland, New
Nick isn't the only New Zealander whose engineering qualifications from MIT have led to experience in the United States. Current MIT student Bruce Wilson has also been working at Ubicom as part of the practical component of the degree programme.
MIT offers two degree programmes in computer, electrical and electronic engineering - the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Computer Engineering) and the new Bachelor of Engineering Technology with majors in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Computer Engineering) degree is a four and a half-year programme including six months full time work experience in the industry.
MIT's Bachelor of Engineering programmes have provisional accreditation from IPENZ, which confirms that the BE and BE (Hons) meet national and international benchmarked standards for first degrees for professional engineers in South Africa, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is a three-year programme which aims to produce graduates who are practical designers without the full design scope of a professional engineer.
