Special Character

On a basis of strong Christian values the College has developed its own character in the creation of a caring and supportive community, where students are encouraged to develop their full potential where a spirit of enquiry is fostered and where individual gifts and talents are valued, adding richness and variety to College life.

Cultural Diversity

Cultural diversity is celebrated, as learning and socialising together promotes respect and understanding, and will pave the way for a better future. At present 20 students from China, Thailand, Korea and Japan are at different year levels throughout the school. We accept international students from Year 7.

English Tuition
Every international student has daily tuition in the English language with a trained ESOL teacher. Students from different nationalities are taught in small groups and this enables the college to provide our International students with the language requirements for international university study.

Curriculum
Our broad curriculum – which includes mathematics, arts, languages and business subjects – provides a firm basis for tertiary study and a diversity of careers. Students are inspired to strive for excellence and regularly achieve above the national mean in examinations.

Teaching expertise and specialist facilities enhance the learning environment.

In addition to well-equipped classrooms, the college has a number of specialist facilities. These include science laboratories, computer rooms, a library and information centre, a fitness centre, a gymnasium, hall, art rooms and a technology centre.

Taking up the Challenge
Chairs, orchestras, ensembles and private tutors offer opportunities for students to nurture their interest in music.

Students learn to develop their expressive skills through drama, debating and public speaking and through a wide variety of sporting activities students gain the values of determination, team spirit and application.

Pastoral Care
To ensure that the international students enjoy a satisfying life style, the Director of International Students places students in caring homestays and provides a guardian who undertakes parental responsibilities.

The Director of International Students also has responsibility for providing support and guidance on both personal and academic matters, to ensure the well-being of the students. Parents are informed regularly of their daughter’s progress.

All International students at Queen Margaret College are encouraged to accept responsibility and to use their initiative and abilities for the good of the whole. Along with this goes a concern for others and for social issues. In this environment international students can come to recognise and accept their own strengths and weaknesses and respond to the challenge that those represent.

Queen Margaret College enjoys an excellent reputation in the community. Our graduates are recognised as young people of good character, with excellent academic skills and sound values.
