Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao o Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato aims to uplift the people of Aotearoa and to be the leading school of excellence in the teaching and learning, research and development of Mātauranga Māori and indigenous knowledge, and to be the first choice school for Māori and Pacific students. Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao represents innovation and tradition in teaching and research, and it provides national and international leadership in Māori, Pacific and indigenous issues and sustainable development. Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao is distinctive in that it actively promotes Māori, Pacific and indigenous people’s cultural and development issues through its teachings, research, conferences and publications. Staff of Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao provide leadership and role modelling in teaching, research and administration, and the School offers a full range of academic opportunities from undergraduate to post-doctoral teaching and research.

The School Of Maori and Pacific Development is based at the University of Waikato’s Hamilton campus.
